I am an arts administrator, parent, educator, and artist living in the Pacific Northwest region of the US. At my desk, I work to expand arts and cultural learning opportunities for youth so they might add to the narratives they find themselves a part of. Through painting, I explore the adaptation of plants and examples of how women survive and find joy through physical pain and gendered roles they swim through. Storytelling and drawing is a lifelong thread- difficult and essential to access through the noise of dominant narratives. Through painting plants, movement, and bodies, I explore ways that life protects itself relying on semi-permeable layers, community building, and stories of survival and joy from generations before.
